Phalaenopsis Orchid Multiflora – Orange Gold

Plant description

The Kolibri Orchids orange-gold Phalaenopsis is a live indoor orchid with a calm, modern look and a generous bloom set. It is a multiflora Phalaenopsis, meaning it carries many smaller flowers across 3–4 flowering stems. The plant is delivered in a Ø12 cm nursery pot with a coordinated decorative pot cover (Potmate “Jewide Las Vegas”), finished with a warm floral print that mirrors the orchid’s orange tones. Approximate height at delivery: 45 cm.

Phalaenopsis orchids are valued for their long flowering period and reliable indoor performance. The thick, glossy green leaves store moisture, making the plant forgiving if you occasionally water a day late. Each stem carries multiple buds, so flowers typically open in sequence rather than all at once.

Plant care

  • Light requirements: Bright, indirect light. A light spot near an east or west window is ideal; avoid strong midday sun on the leaves and flowers.
  • Watering routine: Water about once a week, adjusting to your home. The most reliable method is to immerse the inner nursery pot in lukewarm water for 5–10 minutes, then let it drain completely before placing it back in the pot cover. Water when roots look silvery grey; wait if they are deep green.
  • Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity suits it well (typical indoor levels). Keep away from very dry air from radiators or heat vents.
  • Temperature range: Best at 17–22°C. Avoid cold drafts and large temperature swings.

Growth and characteristics

  • Plant species: Phalaenopsis (multiflora type)
  • Mature height: Typically 45–70 cm indoors, depending on stem length and growing conditions
  • Leaf / flower type: Thick, oval, deep-green leaves; multiple orange-gold flowers per stem with buds that open gradually
  • Growth speed: Moderate; produces new leaves and roots steadily, with flowering cycles that can repeat with correct care

Placement in the home

This orange Phalaenopsis orchid suits places where you spend time close to it: a dining table, a sideboard in the living room, a hallway console, or a bright bedroom shelf. Choose a position with stable temperatures and gentle daylight. Avoid placing it next to a fruit bowl, as ripening fruit releases ethylene gas that can shorten flower life.

Care tips

Keep the crown (the centre where leaves meet) free of standing water to prevent rot. If you use fertiliser, choose an orchid feed at a mild dose about once every two months during active growth. After flowering, a stem may be trimmed according to your preference and the plant’s condition; the orchid will continue to grow new roots and leaves, preparing for the next bloom cycle.
