Phalaenopsis Orchid – Old Rose Pink
Plant description
The Colibr Orchids “Youll Treviso” is a Phalaenopsis orchid with soft, old-rose pink flowers and a compact growth habit. Delivered at an approximate height of 35 cm, it comes in a 12 cm grow pot with a coordinated decorative pot cover (potmate Ø12 cm) for a neat finish on arrival. With at least four flower stems, it offers a full, balanced look that suits calm, modern interiors without taking up much space.
Phalaenopsis orchids are valued for their long flowering period and clear, architectural form. The upright stems carry multiple buds and open blooms, while the broad, deep-green leaves create a grounded base. In the images, the plant shows a healthy mix of open flowers and unopened buds—useful if you want a display that continues to develop over the coming weeks.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light. Avoid strong midday sun; gentle morning or late-afternoon sun is usually fine.
- Watering routine: About once a week, soak the inner grow pot in water for 5–10 minutes, then let it drain completely before placing it back in the decorative cover. Water less in winter.
- Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity. Keep away from very dry air (radiators, heat vents). A normal indoor level is usually sufficient.
- Temperature range: Best at 17–22°C, and comfortably within typical indoor temperatures (approximately 18–26°C). Avoid cold drafts.
Growth and characteristics
- Plant species: Phalaenopsis (moth orchid)
- Approx. size at delivery: Around 35 cm tall
- Flowering: Old-rose pink blooms with multiple buds; supplied with min. 4 flower stems
- Growth habit: Compact, upright stems with sturdy, evergreen leaves
Placement in the home
This orchid is well suited to smaller surfaces where you still want a clear floral presence: a dining table centre, a kitchen counter, a side table by a reading chair, or a hallway console. Choose a bright spot with filtered light rather than a hot window ledge. For longer-lasting blooms, keep it away from fruit bowls (ripening fruit releases ethylene, which can shorten flowering) and avoid placing it close to heaters.
Care tips
Before watering, check the visible roots in the grow pot: silvery-grey roots indicate it is ready for water, while green roots mean it can wait. Always let excess water drain fully—standing water is the most common cause of orchid problems. For steady flowering and leaf health, use a dedicated orchid fertiliser about once every two months (more lightly during the darker months).
