Ficus Benjamina Golden King – Green
Plant description
Ficus benjamina ‘Golden King’ is a live indoor tree with fine, slightly arching branches and many small, pointed leaves. The foliage is fresh green with warm, light variegation that brings gentle colour without looking busy. Delivered at approximately 95 cm tall in a Ø21 cm nursery pot, it is a practical size for floors, plant stands, and spacious shelves.
This variety of weeping fig grows upright around a support cane, which helps it keep a clean silhouette as it matures. It suits Scandinavian interiors where you want greenery with a light, airy structure rather than heavy, broad leaves. Like most ficus, it appreciates a stable spot and consistent care—once settled, it becomes an easy, long-lasting houseplant.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light. Tolerates medium light, but growth slows and variegation may soften. Avoid harsh midday sun on the leaves.
- Watering routine: Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away; do not leave the pot standing in water.
- Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity is ideal. In dry homes, occasional misting or placing the pot near other plants helps keep leaf tips neat.
- Temperature range: 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Placement in the home
Place your Ficus benjamina ‘Golden King’ near a bright window with filtered light—ideal in a living room corner, beside a sofa, or on a hallway console with good daylight. It also works well in a home office where you want greenery without taking up too much visual space. Avoid positioning it next to exterior doors, radiators, or air-conditioning vents, as sudden temperature changes can cause leaf drop.
Care tips
Keep conditions steady. Ficus plants dislike being moved frequently; choose a spot and let it adjust. Turn the pot a little every few weeks to encourage even growth. Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser about once a month in spring and summer; reduce to every 6–8 weeks in winter. Wipe leaves with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and help the plant photosynthesise efficiently. If a few leaves drop after delivery or a change of position, it is usually a normal response—steady light and careful watering help it recover.
