Ficus Benjamina Kinky Weeping Fig – Green

Plant description

Ficus Benjamina ‘Kinky’ is a compact indoor ficus with fine, slightly curled leaves and a dense, rounded crown. This plant is supplied in a Ø12 cm nursery pot and stands at approximately 28 cm tall at delivery, making it a practical choice for smaller spaces where you still want a true, woody houseplant. The foliage is fresh green with subtle, lighter margins, and the plant naturally forms an elegant mini-tree silhouette.

‘Kinky’ is a cultivar of Ficus benjamina known for its tighter growth and smaller leaves than the classic weeping fig. It offers a calm, structured look on a shelf, sideboard or desk, while still bringing the softness of real greenery. Like most ficus, it prefers a stable spot and rewards consistent care with steady growth and a fuller crown.

Plant care

  • Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It also tolerates partial shade, but growth will be slower. Avoid harsh midday sun close to the glass.
  • Watering routine: Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away. Avoid leaving the pot standing in water to prevent root issues.
  • Humidity preferences: Average indoor humidity is fine. In very dry homes (especially in winter), occasional misting or placing the plant near other greenery can help keep leaf edges looking fresh.
  • Temperature range: 18–26°C is ideal. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Growth and characteristics

  • Plant species: Ficus benjamina ‘Kinky’
  • Approx. size at delivery: ↕28 cm, pot Ø12 cm
  • Leaf type: Small, pointed leaves with a slightly curled habit; dense, bushy canopy
  • Growth speed: Moderate under bright indirect light; slower in lower light

Placement in the home

Place your Ficus ‘Kinky’ where it receives steady daylight without strong direct sun: a bright living room, a calm corner of a home office, or a kitchen with filtered light. Because this variety stays compact for longer, it suits tables, shelves and windowside sideboards where larger ficus trees feel too dominant. Once positioned, try to keep it in the same spot—ficus plants can react to frequent moves with temporary leaf drop.

Care tips

Rotate the pot a quarter turn every couple of weeks for even growth. Wipe the leaves gently with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and help the plant photosynthesise efficiently. If leaves drop after arrival or a change in placement, keep care consistent; new growth usually follows once the plant settles. During spring and summer, a balanced houseplant feed every 4–6 weeks supports healthy, compact foliage.
