Ficus Carica Little Miss Figgy – Green
Plant description
Ficus carica ‘Little Miss Figgy’ is a compact, organically grown fig plant with distinctly lobed, fresh green leaves and a naturally dense, bushy shape. Delivered at approximately ↕ 50 cm in a Ø 23 cm grow pot, it is well suited to patios, balconies, small gardens, and bright conservatories. In the right conditions it can set purple, edible figs with a sweet flavour when fully ripe.
This variety is chosen for its manageable size and tidy growth, making it a practical alternative to larger fig trees when you want fruit and foliage without needing a large outdoor space. The sculptural leaf form adds a calm, Mediterranean note to Scandinavian terraces and sunrooms, while the plant’s structure stays compact with light pruning.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Full sun is best (6–8 hours daily). Choose a warm, sheltered spot outdoors in season; indoors, place at the brightest window available. Avoid long periods of deep shade, as this reduces growth and fruiting.
- Watering routine: Water thoroughly, then allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry before watering again. During spring and summer, a potted fig may need regular watering; reduce in autumn and water sparingly in winter when growth slows. Never leave the pot standing in water.
- Humidity preferences: Average outdoor/indoor humidity is suitable. Ensure good air circulation, especially when overwintering indoors.
- Temperature range: Best growth at 18–28°C. Protect from frost; in colder climates, move the pot to a conservatory, greenhouse, or cool bright room for winter.

Placement in the home
In warm months, place your fig outdoors in a sunny, wind-sheltered position—against a south- or west-facing wall is ideal for stored heat. If you keep it indoors during colder periods, a bright conservatory or a large south-facing window helps maintain strength and leaf quality. Rotate the pot occasionally for even growth, and avoid positioning it close to cold drafts.
Care tips
Use a well-draining potting mix and ensure the container has drainage holes—figs dislike waterlogged roots. Feed with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season to support healthy foliage and fruit development. If the plant becomes too open or tall, prune lightly in late winter/early spring to encourage branching and maintain the compact form that ‘Little Miss Figgy’ is known for. As fruits ripen, harvest when they feel soft and show full colour; flavour develops best with consistent sun and steady watering.
