Plant description

Ficus Gustissimo® Perretta® is a young fig tree (Ficus carica) with a fresh, architectural form and characteristic lobed leaves in a deep, natural green. Delivered at an approximate height of 50 cm in a Ø19 cm nursery pot, it is an easy way to introduce living greenery with a calm, Mediterranean feel—equally suited to a bright indoor spot or a sheltered terrace in season.

The plant grows upright with a supported main stem and side shoots that carry broad, hand-shaped leaves. Unlike many common indoor ficus plants, this is a true edible fig type, grown for its growth habit and potential fruiting when given enough light and warmth. In a Scandinavian home it reads clean and understated: green leaves, simple structure, and a controlled silhouette that works well with wood, stone, linen, and neutral ceramics.

Plant care

  • Light requirements: Very bright light. A sunny window is ideal; gentle direct sun is beneficial. If placed outdoors in summer, acclimatise gradually to avoid leaf scorch.
  • Watering routine: Water thoroughly when the top 2–4 cm of soil feels dry. Let excess water drain away and avoid standing water in a cover pot or saucer.
  • Humidity preferences: Average indoor humidity is fine. Extra humidity is not required, but avoid placing it right next to drying heat sources.
  • Temperature range: Best at 18–26°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10–12°C.

Growth and characteristics

  • Plant species: Ficus carica (fig tree), cultivar Perretta
  • Approximate size at delivery: ↕50 cm, pot size Ø19 cm
  • Leaf type: Large lobed leaves with a slightly textured surface; seasonal leaf drop can occur in lower light or during winter rest
  • Growth speed: Moderate in spring and summer with strong light, regular watering, and light feeding

Placement in the home

Place this fig tree where it naturally thrives: close to a bright window in the living room, kitchen, or home office. The more light it receives, the sturdier the growth and the more compact the foliage. In warmer months it also suits a sheltered balcony or terrace; bring it back indoors before temperatures drop. Choose a stable spot—figs prefer consistency and may drop some leaves if moved frequently.

Care tips

Use a well-draining potting mix and consider repotting when roots fill the nursery pot. During the growing season, a balanced plant fertiliser every 2–4 weeks supports healthy leaf growth; reduce feeding in autumn and winter. Rotate the pot occasionally for even growth, and wipe dust from the leaves with a soft, damp cloth so the plant can photosynthesise efficiently. If you want a tidier shape, prune lightly in late winter or early spring before strong new growth begins.
