Ficus Cyathistipula – Green, Braided Trunk

Regular price €96,95

Plant description

Ficus cyathistipula with braided trunk is an indoor ficus tree valued for its calm, structured shape and deep green foliage. This plant is delivered at an approximate height of 110 cm in a 24 cm nursery pot, making it an easy size for living rooms, offices, and brighter hallways where you want greenery without a wide footprint.

The foliage is dense and glossy, with oval leaves that hold their colour well indoors. The braided (gevlochten) stem gives the plant a neat, architectural base while keeping the crown light and airy. As it matures, it develops into a balanced, upright silhouette that suits Scandinavian interiors—clean lines, natural texture, and a restrained palette of green and warm bark tones.

Plant care

  • Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It also tolerates half shade (moderate light), but growth will be slower. Avoid strong, direct midday sun close to the glass.
  • Watering routine: Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away—do not leave the pot standing in water.
  • Humidity preferences: Average indoor humidity is fine. In dry winter air, occasional misting or placing the pot near other plants can help keep leaf edges fresh.
  • Temperature range: Best between 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Growth and characteristics

  • Plant species: Ficus cyathistipula
  • Approximate size at delivery: H 110 cm, pot Ø 24 cm
  • Leaf type: Glossy, oval, deep green leaves on fine branching
  • Growth habit: Upright, tree-form ficus with a braided trunk; moderate growth under good light

Placement in the home

Place this ficus where it receives steady daylight—near a window with filtered light, or a few steps back from a bright south- or west-facing window. In a living room it works well beside a sofa or on an open floor area where the braided stem can be seen. In an office, it adds greenery without demanding frequent attention. If placed in a lower-light corner, rotate the pot every few weeks to keep growth even.

Care tips

Ficus plants prefer consistency. Try to keep the plant in one location rather than moving it often, and water on a regular rhythm based on soil dryness. Wipe the leaves with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and support photosynthesis. During spring and summer, a balanced liquid fertiliser once a month supports healthy new growth. If you repot, choose a pot with drainage and a well-aerated houseplant soil mix.
