Ficus Elastica ‘Robusta’ (rubber plant) is a compact indoor plant known for its thick, glossy leaves and steady, upright growth. Delivered at approx. ↕35 cm in a Ø12 cm nursery pot, it’s an easy-to-live-with choice for homes and offices where you want reliable greenery without constant attention.
The ‘Robusta’ variety has broad, oval leaves in a deep, dark green with a firm, leathery feel. New growth emerges as a tight, pointed spear with a warm, reddish sheath before unfurling—one of the small details that makes this plant feel alive and sculptural even at a modest size. As it matures, the stem thickens and the plant develops a more tree-like silhouette.
This is a practical houseplant for Scandinavian interiors: the leaf surface reflects light softly, the form is clean and architectural, and the care routine is straightforward. It tolerates a little neglect better than many tropical plants, while still rewarding consistent care with larger leaves and steady growth.

- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It also copes with medium light, but growth will be slower. Avoid strong direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
- Watering routine: Water when the top 2–4 cm of soil feels dry. Let excess water drain fully; don’t leave the pot standing in water, as Ficus roots are sensitive to soggy soil.
- Humidity preferences: Normal indoor humidity is fine. Slightly higher humidity supports larger leaves; wipe leaves occasionally to keep pores clear.
- Temperature range: Best at 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 10–12°C.

Care tips
Use a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes if repotting. Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser every 3–4 weeks during spring and summer, then reduce in autumn and winter. If leaves collect dust, wipe them with a soft, damp cloth—this keeps the surface clean and helps the plant use light efficiently.
