Ficus Lyrata Fiddle Leaf Fig – Green
Ficus lyrata (often called fiddle-leaf fig) is a popular indoor tree with large, violin-shaped leaves and a clean, upright growth habit. This plant is supplied at an approximate height of 75 cm in a Ø17 cm plastic nursery pot, making it easy to place on the floor, a plant stand, or a low side table while it settles in.
The foliage is deep green with clear, light veins and a slightly glossy surface, as shown in the image. Ficus lyrata is valued for its structured silhouette and the way it adds calm, natural volume to minimal interiors without looking busy. Like most ficus varieties, it prefers a stable routine and a consistent spot once you find the right light.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. A few hours of gentle direct sun (morning or late afternoon) is usually fine. Too little light can lead to leaf drop and slower growth.
- Watering routine: Water thoroughly when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Let excess water drain away. Reduce watering in winter and avoid keeping the soil constantly wet.
- Humidity preferences: Moderate household humidity works well. In very dry homes, occasional misting or placing the pot near other plants can help keep leaf edges from browning.
- Temperature range: Best at typical indoor temperatures, around 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts, radiators, and sudden temperature changes.
Growth and characteristics

Placement in the home
Place your Ficus lyrata near a bright window where it receives steady daylight—ideal for a living room corner, beside a sofa, or near a dining area with filtered light. In bedrooms and offices it can work well if the room is bright; in darker hallways it typically struggles over time. Rotate the plant every few weeks for even growth and a balanced shape.
Care tips
Dust the leaves regularly with a soft, damp cloth so the plant can photosynthesise efficiently—this also keeps the foliage looking crisp. If you notice yellowing lower leaves, check watering and drainage first; if leaves drop, review light levels and avoid moving the plant repeatedly. Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser monthly during spring and summer for steady growth.
