Ficus Lyrata Fiddle Leaf Fig – Green
Plant description
Ficus lyrata (fiddle-leaf fig) is a sculptural indoor tree with large, violin-shaped leaves and a woody stem. This live plant is supplied in a Ø26 cm nursery pot and has an approximate height of 100 cm at delivery, making it a well-proportioned choice for rooms where you want visible greenery without taking up much floor space.
The foliage is thick and lightly glossy, with clear veining and an upright growth habit. New leaves emerge lighter green and deepen in colour as they mature. Like many ficus plants, it appreciates a stable spot and rewards consistent care with steady, reliable growth.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can handle a little gentle morning or evening sun, but avoid strong midday sun which may scorch the leaves.
- Watering routine: Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away; do not leave the pot standing in water.
- Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity is sufficient. In very dry homes, occasional misting or placing the pot near other plants can help reduce crispy leaf edges.
- Temperature range: Typical indoor temperatures of 18–26°C. Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes, especially near exterior doors or windows in winter.
Growth and characteristics
- Plant species: Ficus lyrata
- Approximate size at delivery: ↕ 100 cm, nursery pot Ø26 cm
- Leaf type: Large, violin-shaped leaves with pronounced veins; semi-gloss surface

Placement in the home
Place your fiddle-leaf fig where it receives steady daylight—such as a bright living room corner, next to a window with sheer curtains, or in a calm office space with good ambient light. Keep it a short distance away from radiators and ventilation sources to prevent the soil from drying too quickly and to protect the foliage.
This size works well on the floor beside a sofa, at the end of a dining area, or in a hallway with natural light. For a cleaner look, set the nursery pot into a decorative cachepot with a saucer or liner to protect surfaces.
Care tips
Wipe the leaves with a soft, damp cloth every few weeks to remove dust and help the plant photosynthesise efficiently. Rotate the pot a quarter turn every 1–2 weeks for even growth. If you repot in the future, choose a pot with drainage holes and step up only one size to avoid overly wet soil. Ficus plants can drop a few leaves when moved; keeping the location stable usually helps it settle quickly.
Note: Ficus lyrata is grown for decoration and is not edible. It can be irritating if chewed by pets, so place it out of reach if needed.
