Ficus Microcarpa Moclame - Green, Oval Leaves, Upright Form, Lightly Branched, Houseplant
Plant description
Ficus microcarpa ‘Moclame’ is an indoor ficus with compact, oval green leaves and an upright, lightly branching shape. Delivered at approximately 95 cm in height in a Ø21 cm grow pot, it offers a calm, architectural look that suits minimalist interiors. The plant is trained up a support stick, helping it keep a straight, tidy form as it grows.
The Moclame is valued for its dense foliage and clean silhouette. Compared with more dramatic ficus varieties, it reads softer and more structured—useful if you want greenery that feels composed rather than wild. Like other ficus plants, it can contribute to a fresher-feeling room through its natural air-cleaning process, while adding visual depth with layered, glossy leaves.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It also tolerates medium light, but growth will slow. Avoid strong direct midday sun, which can scorch leaves.
- Watering routine: Water when the top 2–4 cm of soil feels dry. In many homes this is about once a week; reduce in winter. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain—do not leave the pot standing in water.
- Humidity preferences: Normal indoor humidity is fine. If air is very dry (common in winter), occasional misting or placing the pot on a pebble tray can help keep leaf edges neat.
- Temperature range: 18–26°C is ideal. Keep away from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.

Placement in the home
Place this ficus where it receives stable, indirect daylight—near an east or west-facing window, or set back from a bright south-facing window behind a sheer curtain. It works well on the floor beside a sofa, in a bright hallway corner, or near a desk where you want greenery without visual clutter. Rotate the pot a quarter turn every couple of weeks to maintain even growth and a balanced shape.
Care tips
Ficus plants appreciate consistency. Try to avoid frequent changes in position, temperature, or watering routine, as this can cause leaf drop. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth occasionally to remove dust and help the plant use light efficiently. Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser once a month in spring and summer; reduce to every 6–8 weeks during the darker months.
