Phalaenopsis Morelia Orchid Set – Purple

Regular price €54,99

Plant description

This set includes 4 purple Phalaenopsis orchids (Phalaenopsis ‘Morelia’), a flowering houseplant known for its compact growth and generous bloom. Each orchid arrives in a Ø9 cm plastic nursery pot and is approximately 35 cm tall at delivery (measured from the base of the pot). The plants are supplied with 2–3 sturdy flower spikes each, depending on current availability. Decorative pots are not included, making it easy to place them into your own cachepots or arrange them together in a larger planter.

The ‘Morelia’ type is often described as multiflora: it produces many smaller flowers and a high bud count, resulting in a dense, long-lasting display. The flowers are a saturated purple with a clean, contemporary look that works well in calm, Scandinavian interiors—especially where you want colour without visual noise.

Phalaenopsis orchids are also a practical choice for indoor growing. They thrive in normal home temperatures, look composed for weeks, and do not require frequent watering when cared for correctly.

Plant care

  • Light requirements: Bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning or evening sun is fine; avoid strong midday sun that can scorch leaves.
  • Watering routine: About once a week. Remove the nursery pot and soak it in water for 5–10 minutes, then let it drain thoroughly before placing it back. Water only when roots look silvery/grey; if roots are green, wait.
  • Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity. Keep away from very dry air (radiators, heat vents). Occasional light misting around the plant (not directly into the flowers) can help in winter.
  • Temperature range: Best at 17–22°C. Avoid cold drafts and placing the plant close to heat sources.

Growth and characteristics

  • Plant species: Phalaenopsis (moth orchid), cultivar ‘Morelia’
  • Approximate size at delivery: 35 cm tall, Ø9 cm nursery pot
  • Flowers: Multiflora-style clusters with many buds; deep purple blooms
  • Growth habit: Compact rosette of broad green leaves; flowering spikes supported for stability

Placement in the home

Place your orchids where you spend time: on a dining table, a kitchen shelf, a hallway console, or a calm bedroom corner. Choose a spot with steady daylight but no harsh direct sun. For longer-lasting blooms, keep orchids away from fruit bowls—ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, which can shorten flower life.

Care tips

Use a decorative pot with room for airflow and always allow excess water to drain—Phalaenopsis roots prefer moisture followed by oxygen, not standing water. Feed with a dedicated orchid fertiliser every 6–8 weeks during active growth. After flowering, spikes can be trimmed according to your preference: cut above a node for a chance of a side branch, or cut lower to encourage the plant to rest and build strength for the next flowering cycle.
