Plant description

Haworthia limifolia is a compact succulent with a sculptural, triangular rosette and deep green, pointed leaves. The foliage has a clear ribbed texture with pale horizontal markings, giving the plant a crisp, graphic look that works well in calm, minimalist interiors. This plant is delivered in a Ø9 cm nursery pot and has an approximate height of 16 cm at the time of delivery.

Native to South Africa, Haworthia limifolia is adapted to bright conditions and periods of drought. Indoors it stays small and tidy, making it a practical choice for windowsills, shelves and desks where you want greenery without a large footprint. The leaf tips can feel sharp, so it’s best placed where it won’t be brushed past frequently.

Plant care

  • Light requirements: Bright, indirect light. Tolerates some gentle morning or late afternoon sun; avoid strong midday sun behind glass.
  • Watering routine: Water sparingly. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings; in many homes this is about every 2–4 weeks, less in winter.
  • Humidity preferences: Low to moderate humidity. Normal indoor air is ideal; avoid consistently damp environments.
  • Temperature range: 18–26°C is ideal. Keep above 10°C and protect from cold drafts.

Growth and characteristics

  • Plant species: Haworthia limifolia
  • Mature height: Typically remains compact indoors, often around 10–20 cm depending on age and conditions
  • Leaf type: Firm, triangular leaves with pronounced ridges and pale banding; forms a neat rosette
  • Growth speed: Slow-growing; may produce offsets over time

Placement in the home

Place this Haworthia in a bright spot where it receives steady light—on a kitchen windowsill with filtered sun, a living room shelf near a window, or a home office desk. If you only have lower light, it can cope for a while, but growth will slow and the rosette may stretch. Turning the pot a little every few weeks helps the plant keep an even shape.

Care tips

Use a well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix and a pot with a drainage hole if you repot—this is the simplest way to avoid overwatering. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away; do not leave the pot standing in water. If you’re unsure, wait a few extra days—Haworthias handle dryness far better than wet roots. Dust the leaves gently with a soft brush to keep the ridged texture looking clean.
