Phalaenopsis Orchid Vienna – Dark Pink
The Kolibri Orchids dark pink Phalaenopsis “Vienna” arrives as a ready-to-place indoor orchid in a Como pot (9 cm) with an integrated water reservoir and wick system. The plant features two supported flowering stems with multiple buds and open blooms in a clear, dark pink tone, set above broad, healthy green leaves. With an approximate total height of 45 cm, it suits tables, shelves, desks and sideboards where you want colour without complicated care.
The included Easy Watering System is designed for people who love orchids but prefer a calmer routine. Instead of frequent small watering, you top up the reservoir occasionally; the wick draws moisture gradually to the roots. This helps avoid the two most common orchid issues: drying out and accidental overwatering.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning or evening sun is fine, but avoid strong midday sun which can scorch leaves.
- Watering routine: Keep a small amount of water in the reservoir and top up when it is nearly empty. Use room-temperature water. As a general guide, check weekly; in warmer months you may refill more often. Avoid letting water sit in the leaf crown.
- Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity (around 40–60%). Normal indoor air is usually sufficient; keep away from very dry radiators.
- Temperature range: Best at typical indoor temperatures, 18–26°C. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below ~15°C.
Growth and characteristics
- Plant species: Phalaenopsis (moth orchid)
- Approx. size at delivery: About 45 cm tall, in a 9 cm pot
- Leaf and flower type: Thick, glossy green leaves with rounded shape; dark pink blooms with buds that open gradually along the stems
- Growth habit: Compact base with upright flowering spikes; typically slow-growing indoors
Placement in the home
Place the orchid where it gets steady daylight without harsh sun: on a living room side table near a window, a hallway console with borrowed light, or a kitchen shelf away from the hob. In an office, it works well on a desk or credenza where the reservoir system reduces daily attention. Keep the plant out of direct heat from radiators and away from fruit bowls (ripening fruit can shorten flowering).
Care tips
Use the reservoir as your routine: refill little and often rather than flooding the pot. If you choose to fertilise, use a diluted orchid feed about once a month during active growth. After flowering, a green stem can sometimes rebloom; a fully dried stem can be cut back with clean scissors. Wipe leaves gently with a soft, damp cloth to keep them dust-free and able to photosynthesise efficiently.
