Plant care

• Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal for both plants. A little gentle morning or evening sun is fine, but avoid strong midday sun through glass.
• Watering routine: These plants are grown in water. Keep roots submerged, but avoid covering the stems. Top up as the water level drops and refresh the water completely every 1–2 weeks.
• Humidity preferences: Moderate indoor humidity suits both. Monstera adansonii appreciates slightly higher humidity, especially in winter—grouping plants together helps.
• Temperature range: 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and windowsills that drop below 15°C.

If you want steadier growth, add a small dose of hydroponic fertiliser in spring and summer (follow the fertiliser’s instructions and keep it light—overfeeding can damage roots). Remove any yellowing leaves and rotate the bulbs occasionally for even growth. Keep the glass clean for a clear view of the roots.
