Monstera Deliciosa Swiss Cheese Plant – Green
Plant description
Monstera deliciosa, often called the Swiss cheese plant or hole plant, is a classic indoor plant known for its glossy green leaves with natural splits and perforations. This plant is delivered at an approximate height of 55 cm in a Ø17 cm grow pot, making it an easy size to place on the floor, a plant stand, or a sturdy shelf while it matures.
The characteristic holes (fenestrations) develop as the plant grows and gets steady light. Each leaf is slightly different, and living plants can vary in shape and fullness from the photo—this is part of what makes Monstera a long-lasting, natural interior choice. The plant in the image shows a healthy, upright growth habit with long stems and broad, semi-fenestrated leaves in a fresh mid-to-deep green tone.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Tolerates medium light, but growth will be slower and leaves may develop fewer holes. Avoid strong direct midday sun.
- Watering routine: Water when the top 2–4 cm of soil feels dry. In warmer months this is often about once per week; in winter, less. Let excess water drain away—do not leave the pot standing in water.
- Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity is sufficient, but it appreciates slightly higher humidity. Occasional misting or placing it near other plants can help in dry homes.
- Temperature range: Typical indoor temperatures of 18–26°C. Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below ~15°C.
Growth and characteristics
- Plant species: Monstera deliciosa
- Approx. size at delivery: ↕55 cm, pot size Ø17 cm
- Leaf type: Large, glossy leaves with natural splits and holes that increase with maturity
- Growth speed: Moderate to fast in bright, indirect light during spring and summer
Placement in the home
Place your Monstera in a bright living room corner, beside a sofa, or near a window with filtered light (east- or west-facing is often suitable). It also works well in a home office where it receives steady daylight without direct sun on the leaves. Rotate the pot every few weeks for even growth, especially if light comes from one direction.
Care tips
Use a breathable indoor plant mix and a pot with drainage holes (you can place the grow pot inside a decorative cachepot). Wipe dust from the leaves with a soft, damp cloth to keep the surface clean and support photosynthesis. If the plant becomes taller and starts to lean, a moss pole or simple support can encourage stronger, more upright growth. Monstera is mildly toxic if ingested, so keep out of reach of pets and small children.
