Monstera Minima Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma – Green
Plant description
Monstera Minima (often sold under this name, botanically known as Rhaphidophora tetrasperma) is a compact, climbing indoor plant loved for its naturally split, deep green leaves. This plant is delivered at an approximate height of 30 cm in a Ø12 cm nursery pot—an easy size for shelves, side tables, and smaller rooms where you still want clear, fresh greenery.
The foliage has the recognisable “mini monstera” look: elongated leaves with clean fenestrations that develop more clearly as the plant matures. With its tidy growth and light, architectural silhouette, Monstera Minima sits well in calm, Scandinavian interiors—especially when paired with simple ceramic planters, light wood, and neutral textiles.
Plant care
- Light requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It also tolerates partial shade, but growth will be slower and leaves may be less fenestrated. Avoid harsh midday sun.
- Watering routine: Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain. Reduce watering slightly in winter.
- Humidity preferences: Moderate humidity is fine; higher humidity supports larger leaves and steadier growth. Keep away from very dry radiators.
- Temperature range: Typical indoor temperatures 18–26°C. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
Growth and characteristics
- Plant species: Rhaphidophora tetrasperma (commonly called Monstera Minima / Mini Monstera)
- Approximate size at delivery: ↕30 cm, pot size Ø12 cm
- Leaf type: Glossy green leaves with natural splits (fenestrations)
- Growth habit: Climbing and vining; can be trained upward with a support for a more vertical shape
Placement in the home
Place Monstera Minima where it receives gentle daylight: a bright living room corner, a bedroom dresser, or a home office shelf near (but not in) a sunny window. If you prefer a fuller, upright plant, position it where you can add a slim trellis or moss pole. For a softer look, let the vines trail from a high shelf or a wall-mounted plant shelf.
Care tips
Use a well-draining houseplant mix and a pot with drainage holes (or keep it in the nursery pot inside a cover pot and empty excess water after watering). Rotate the plant every few weeks for even growth. Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to keep the surface clean and improve light absorption. If you have pets or small children, note that this aroid is considered toxic if ingested.
