Floor Vase – Banana Fibre, Raffia, Natural

Regular price €65,00

Product description

TUMBAK is a tall, handwoven floor vase made from sun-dried banana fibre with light raffia detailing at the rim and base. Its classic rounded form and narrow opening are designed for styling with dried flowers, palm leaves, or decorative branches. For fresh stems, place a slim watertight inner vessel inside the vase to protect the natural fibres.

The surface shows the character of real plant fibre: subtle tonal shifts from warm brown to soft beige, and a tactile, braided structure that reads calm and considered in Scandinavian interiors. A discreet internal metal frame supports the shape, helping the vase stand steady at floor level while keeping the silhouette clean.

Made in a family-run weaving workshop in Java, Indonesia, each piece is formed by hand. Slight variations in weave, colour, and form are part of the material and the craft process—this is what makes each vase feel personal rather than factory-perfect.

Why this product stands out

Banana fibre is taken from the layered stems of agricultural banana plants and gains its deeper brown tone through natural sun-drying. The result is a robust, form-stable material with visible depth in the weave. Compared with ceramic, a woven floor vase feels lighter to move, softer in expression, and safer around children and pets—while still offering strong presence thanks to its height and rounded body.

The narrow neck is practical: it supports taller dried stems without requiring heavy filler, making everyday styling simple and tidy.

How it works in the home

TUMBAK is sized for floor placement and works well where you want natural texture without visual clutter:

  • Beside a sofa or lounge chair to soften clean lines
  • In a hallway corner where height adds balance without using much floor space
  • Next to a sideboard or shelving to introduce warm, organic material
  • In a bedroom, styled with a few dried stems for a quiet, relaxed look

Details

  • Material / texture: Coiled banana-fibre weave with a tactile, slightly irregular surface typical of handwork
  • Design: Rounded belly, tapered neck, and light raffia edging for a clear, balanced outline
  • Usage: Ideal for dried flowers, palm fronds, grasses, and branches; use an inner vessel for fresh flowers
  • Care tips: Keep dry; dust with a soft brush or cloth; avoid standing water and prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the fibres

A tasteful gift idea

This woven vase is a considered gift for anyone who enjoys natural materials and pared-back interiors. The neutral tones work across many homes, and the scale makes it suitable for a new apartment, a housewarming, or a milestone birthday.
